Six gang members who lured police to a burning pub so they could shoot at them during last summer's riots were jailed for a total of 124 years yesterday.

Judge William Davis sentenced the six, aged between 17 and 26, at Birmingham Crown Court for offences including rioting, reckless arson and firearms possession.

Nicholas Francis, Jermaine Lewis, Tyrone Laidley, Renardo Farrell, Wayne Collins and Amirul Rehman petrol-bombed the Barton Arms in Newtown, to lure officers to the pub before opening fire.

They also shot at the West Midlands Police helicopter, jurors heard.
