Four people have been arrested on suspicion of murder after a man was killed in a suspected shooting in a North Yorkshire village.

The 58-year-old victim died in hospital after suffering serious injuries to his chest following an incident in Carlin How near Redcar at 4.30pm on Friday.

Cleveland Police say the injuries were believed to have been caused by a firearm.

Three men aged 31, 32 and 35 and a woman aged 32 have been arrested and are being held in custody while inquiries continue.

Three firearms units and a police helicopter were deployed following the incident in the village’s Brotton Road with forensic teams later seen combing the area.

And investigators are now urging anyone who has any information to contact them on 101.

A spokesperson for Cleveland Police said: “Our thoughts remain with his family at this difficult time.

“Police are still continuing to appeal for anyone with any information regarding the incident or anyone with private CCTV or dashcam footage from the time/area of the incident to contact Cleveland Police.”
