£335 fine for throwing £1 coin

Thursday 11 August 2011 11:55 EDT

A 17-year-old youth arrested for throwing a £1 coin at a bus door is considerably worse off today after being fined £335.22p.

The teenager, from Loughton, Essex, was charged with causing criminal damage to a bus in Loughton High Road on Monday August 8.

He appeared before magistrates in Chelmsford today, and was handed a six-month referral order and the fine - which had to be paid before he left court, Essex Police said.
