Postman kept 30,000 letters

A postman who hoarded more than 30,000 letters and parcels has been ordered to carry out 280 hours of unpaid work.

Paul Willicott, 44, kept 67 sackloads of mail at his Paignton home and six more in his car. He accumulated the letters over a three-year period until he was spotted by a member of the public in June. He told Torquay magistrates' court he did not have time to deliver them.

Willicott was sentenced after admitting two charges of intentionally delaying post at an earlier hearing.
