Policeman to face trial on sex assault charge
A police sergeant accused of sexually assaulting another male officer will face a Crown Court trial, a court heard today.
David Stevens, 36, of Highgate, north London, denies one count of the sexual assault of a male.
It is alleged he assaulted a constable at a Christmas party in December.
At a committal hearing at St Albans Magistrates' Court today, Stevens, who works for the Metropolitan Police, was told he will face a trial at St Albans Crown Court.
He was remanded on bail until a plea and case management hearing at the Crown Court on 30 March with the condition that he does not contact any prosecution witnesses.
