Policeman held over stories leaked to press
A former senior City of London police officer has been arrested on suspicion of passing "unauthorised information" to a journalist.
The Independent Police Complaints Commission said the 52-year-old was held on suspicion of misconduct in public office at his home in south-west London. He was being questioned and there was no suggestion that he received money for the information, the IPCC said.
The arrest came about as part of an independent IPCC investigation that is running alongside Operation Elveden, the Metropolitan Police inquiry into alleged corrupt payments and information leaks.
Another City of London officer was arrested as part of the IPCC inquiry on 14 June last year and released on bail, with no indication he received payment.
