Police officer stabbed during armed robbery

A police officer was stabbed today during an armed robbery at a bookmakers.

He has been taken to hospital where he is in a serious but stable condition, Thames Valley Police said.

The plain-clothed officer was carrying out inquiries into an unrelated matter at Corals Bookmakers in Birchill, Bracknell, Berkshire, when the robbery took place at about noon.

A man in his late 20s has been arrested on suspicion of robbery and attempted murder.
