Policeman 'tracked teenager using Snapchat then climbed through bedroom window to rape her'

An police anti-terrorism officer allegedly raped a 14-year-old girl after tracking her down using Snapchat, a court has heard.

Peter Drummond is accused to travelling twice to Cornwall to rape the teenager in her bedroom at her parents’ home. On one occasion he climbed through her bedroom window before an alleged sexual assault.

Mr Drummond, from Three Mile Cross in Berkshire, appeared at Truro Crown Court in Cornwall to face three charges of rape and three charges of sexual activity with a child.

The 38-year-old has denied all the charges, four of which relate to 26 October of 2017 while two date to 17 November, 2017.

The jury were told how the anti-terrorism officer was able to find his victim’s address through Snapchat mapping.

Prosecutor Fiona Elder said Mr Drummond had initially befriended the girl using Kik messenger and Snapchat.

She told the jury: “There are two allegations that he travelled from his home to Cornwall and raped her in her bedroom at her parents’ home."

She added: You may think the dangers of social media are highlighted in this case where a child finds herself in a situation that they do not understand and they do not want. You may think, having heard the evidence in this case, that this is what happened on this particular occasion.

“He had come to her house using Snapchat mapping. There is no dispute that she did go through a sexual experience. As you will hear, Mr Drummond admits having sexual intercourse with her on these occasions.”

Mr Drummond allegedly told the girl to tell the police that she had said she was 17-years-old.

The prosecutor said the 14-year-old later told police: “He knew my age. I told him the first time I met him. He told me to say I was 17.”

Ms Elder added: “Pushed for details, she said sex had occurred and she did not want it.”

The teenager allegedly asked him to stop but he ignored her, the prosecutor said.

She said evidence of Mr Drummond’s DNA was found in the girl’s bedroom. The court also heard how the girl received £30 from a bank account in the name of P Drummond, which the prosecution allege was the defendant’s account.

The court heard Mr Drummond has worked as a specialist anti-terrorism police officer with the MoD since 2006.

The trial continues.
