Detectives are re-visiting the murder of a father of two who was shot 16 years ago, police said today.

The body of 35-year-old Glenn Ford, from Coventry, was discovered in a factory yard in Saltley, Birmingham, on 23 November 1993.

West Midlands Police said he had been shot a number of times with a 9mm firearm.

Despite extensive inquiries, those responsible have never been found.

The force's major crime review team, which reviews historic unsolved murder investigations, is carrying out a number of fresh inquiries and detectives from the major investigation unit will be re-visiting the investigation.

Appealing for information from the public, senior investigating officer Glenn Moss said: "We regularly review unsolved murder investigations with a view to finding new opportunities for solving them.

"The review of the murder of Glenn Ford in 1993 has presented us with some new opportunities.

"Advances in forensic technology have taken great strides since Glenn's death and we will be taking advantage of some of the new forensic opportunities available to us.

"In addition, situations change over time. Members of the public in Birmingham or Coventry may know what happened to Glenn but didn't come forward at the time.

"Nearly 16 years have passed. During that time, friendships, associations or allegiances may have moved on."

Anyone with information is urged to contact the major investigation unit on 0121 3226079 or Crimestoppers on 088 555 111.
