An investigation has been launched after a young man was found stabbed to death in an attack during rush hour near a London Tube station.

Police were called at around 8am on Tuesday to reports of an injured man in his 20s at Kendor Gardens near Morden Tube station.

Officers, the London Ambulance service and London’s Air Ambulance attended the scene and found the man with stab wounds.

He was pronounced dead at the scene and next of kin have yet to be informed.

A post-mortem examination and formal identification will be scheduled in due course.

No arrests have been made and police are appealing for rush hour commuters who may have witnessed the attack to contact them.

Detective Chief Inspector Dave Reid said: "The stabbing occurred during the rush hour period and there would have been a number of people in the vicinity making their way to the train station.

“I am appealing for anyone who may have seen the stabbing or the events leading up to the incident to get in contact with us."
