Police identify three men suspected of murdering PC
Muzzaker Imtiaz Shah, 24, is suspected of being the man who fired the handgun which killed the 38-year-old officer eight days ago. Police also want to find the Somali brothers Mustaf Jama, 25, and Yusuf Jama, 19. The men who murdered PC Beshenivsky and injured her colleague, PC Teresa Milburn, 37, are "very dangerous", said Detective Superintendent Andy Brennan, who is leading the inquiry.
Mr Shah, who is of Asian extraction, is already wanted by the police in connection with at least one armed robbery in London and is considered to be the most dangerous of the three men. He was born in Burnley, but is believed to have lived in the London area for the past four years. Mustaf Jama was convicted two years ago of carrying out a robbery in Sheffield, South Yorkshire. He entered the United Kingdom in 2000 and has been granted seven years' leave to remain in this country. His brother came to Britain with his mother in 2003. Both brothers are thought to have been living in the North Kensington area of London.
The West Yorkshire Police officers were shot when they went to investigate a robbery at a travel agent in Bradford.
At a press conference in the city yesterday, Det Supt Brennan appealed for the public's help in tracing the men. He said that immediately after the shooting three men were seen running to a silver vehicle, a Toyota RAV-4 with the registration number WP05 YTT, parked near by.
Det Supt Brennan said there was no indication any of the men had left the country and it was possible they may be still be in the London area. All three were in Britain legally, but they had no known connections with Bradford. "I can only assume it was a random robbery," Det Supt Brennan said.
