One police officer has been sacked, one demoted and four others given a reprimand over the case of a talented young showjumper who was murdered by her jealous ex-boyfriend.
Derbyshire Police yesterday announced the findings of a misconduct panel that has been examining the conduct of seven officers in the Tania Moore case.
Miss Moore, 26, was rammed off the road and shot in the face by Mark Dyche, 36, after a year-long hate campaign. Police had been warned several times about his behaviour.
Following complaints from Miss Moore's family, the police watchdog, the Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC), began an investigation into Derbyshire and Staffordshire police forces.
Proceedings against seven officers started on 16 October. The misconduct panel was chaired by a deputy chief constable from another force. In a statement, Derbyshire Police said: "Six of the officers admitted failing in the performance of their duties in relation to the case.
"One officer has been dismissed, one officer has been demoted and four other officers, ranging from the rank of constable to chief inspector, have received a reprimand. It was decided by the panel that the seventh officer had no case to answer."
The officers have the right to appeal but must indicate their intention to do so within 14 days.
