Police have uncovered two pipe bombs stashed in woodland in Northern Ireland.

Ammunition and fireworks were also among the discovery in Portglenone Forest, Co Antrim.

The Police Service of Northern Ireland described the pipe bombs as viable and primed. They had been buried in the woods.

Detectives searched the scene last night after reports of suspicious activity in the area.

Army bomb experts were called in to make the devices safe, and the explosives have now been sent for forensic examination.
