An eight-month old baby has died after a car collided with his pram in south London.

Luciano Newman was critically injured during the crash on 13 January, which happened at 8.08pm on Croydon Road, Penge.

His mother, Nicole Newman, was pushing his pram at the time of the collision and died at the scene.

Luciano died one week later, on Sunday, 20 January.

The driver of the car, a 51-year-old man, was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries after the crash and is co-operating with police officers, a spokesperson for Scotland Yard said.

“Boy what a sad start for 2019,” one witness wrote on Facebook.

“[I was] just passing, going about my business and I came across such a horrific accident.

“A car hit a babymother while she was trying to cross the road.”
