Two of three men accused of murdering a man who disturbed them while they were trying to steal a car were found guilty yesterday of burgling a house with the intention of taking the keys to a car.

Kevin Jackson, 31, was attacked with a screwdriver on 30 December last year after he chased a group of men outside his home in Halifax, West Yorkshire. During a four-week trial at Leeds Crown Court the jury has been told that Mr Jackson was alerted by his wife that someone was interfering with his father-in-law's Toyota RAV 4 four-wheel-drive vehicle, parked outside their home. Mr Jackson, who had two young sons, was later discovered with serious head injuries and died two days later.

The jury has yet to decide its verdicts in that case, but Rashad Zaman, 21, and Raees Khan, 21, both from Bradford, were found guilty yesterday of burgling a house in Keighley on 26 December last year with the intention of stealing the keys to an Audi car. A third defendant, Rangziab Akhtar, 20, also from Bradford, has already admitted the same offence. All deny murdering Mr Jackson, but have admitted attempting to steal his father-in-law's car. Last week the jury found Zaman guilty of five counts of car theft involving eight vehicles.

The jury will continue its deliberations today.
