Murder inquiry launched after 35-year-old woman found stabbed to death in Chelsea

A 48-year-old woman has been arrested on suspicion of murder and is currently in custody at a central London police station

A murder investigation has been launched after a woman was found stabbed to death at a house in Chelsea, South West London.

Police were called to an address in Stadium Street at 01.20am today following reports of a 35-year-old woman suffering from stab wounds.

London Ambulance Service was also in attendance and the woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

A 48-year-old woman has been arrested on suspicion of murder and is currently in custody at a central London police station.

A Metropolitan police spokesman said: "Although officers believe they know the identity of the deceased, we await formal identification to take place."

An investigation is underway led by Detective Chief Inspector Simon Ashwin and enquires are currently trying to trace the woman’s next of kin.

A post-mortem examination has been scheduled and will take place in due course.
