A French family laid flowers yesterday at the spot in a London park where their daughter was bludgeoned to death by a possible serial killer.

Amelie Delagrange was found on Twickenham Green on Thursday night with severe head injuries and died later in hospital. The 22-year-old moved to London two months ago to improve her English.

She is believed to have missed her bus stop while returning from a night out with friends at a Twickenham bar and to have encountered her murderer while walking home across the green. A police source said her parents, who travelled to Britain from their home near Paris on Saturday, were not ready to face the media. But they visited the murder scene where they left bouquets.

Detectives are investigating whether Ms Delagrange was the victim of serial attacker who may be living in the area. They are looking for links with four other attacks in the area including the murder of Marsha McDonnell, 19, a student, in February last year.
