A 46-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after woman was found dead and another man was seriously injured in an upmarket Surrey suburb.

The body of a 38-year-old woman was found at a house in the St George’s Hill area of Weybridge on Saturday, Surrey Police said.

Police went to the scene after being alerted by an ambulance crew at around 10am.

The injured man was found at the same address in Crossfield Place, near Weybridge Station, and taken to hospital for treatment.

The victim has not been formally identified but police say they know who she is and her family have been informed.

The Mail on Sunday reports that the couple living at the house had a four-year-old son who was seen being carried away from the scene.

Detective Chief Inspector Jason Taylor said: "This is a tragic incident and we will do all we can to support the woman's family."

The house is situated on a private residential street which was taped off by police on Saturday afternoon.

Three non-police cars were visible on the driveway beyond the police tape.

A spokesman for the residents’ association at the 964-acre private community, dubbed “Britain’s Beverly Hills”, said the attack had not happened there.
