A mother-of-three was allegedly stabbed outside of her home just minutes after dropping her children off at school.

Charlene Malone was hospitalised after being attacked outside of her home in Drylaw, in north-west Edinburgh, The Daily Record reports.

A friend of Ms Malone claims she was confronted by two people, who allegedly dragged her down the street by her hair.

“Her arm got slashed on the underneath because she put up her arm to defend herself and she got stabbed in the back,” she told The Record.

“She was just coming back from the school after dropping off the wee one, she was only going to go back to her friends for a cup of tea."

A police spokesperson said: “Police in Edinburgh are investigating following a report of an assault in the Drylaw area of the city.

"The incident happened around 9am on Monday. Enquiries are ongoing into the full circumstances.”
