Men guilty over warship drugs

Two men have been convicted of importing illegal drugs after stashes of cocaine worth more than £2m were found on board a warship which docked in Plymouth. Raul Beia, 39, and Dean Langley, 20, were found guilty at Portsmouth Crown Court. They were charged after cocaine was discovered inside the coat lining of Teresa Matos, Beia's partner, in a locker on board HMS Manchester. The Type 42 destroyer, which arrived in Plymouth in August of last year, had been used on a counter-narcotics training mission before its return to the UK in August.

Beia, 39, of Clapham, south-west London, and Langley, 20, of west London, have been remanded in custody until the sentencing, which is due on Friday.
