A man who won more than £45 million on the Euromillions has appeared in court charged with killing a pensioner in a car crash.
Matt Topham, 31, is accused of causing the death of Mary Jane Regler, 75, in a crash in North Cockerington, Lincolnshire on Christmas Day last year.
Ms Regler’s husband, Rodney, was seriously injured in the crash.
Topham was allegedly driving a BMW when it collided with the couple’s Ford Fiesta in Louth Road.
He appeared via video link from his home at Lincoln Crown Court on Thursday charged with causing death by dangerous driving and causing serious injury as a result of dangerous driving.
He will next appear in court on December 18 and is due to stand trial in March next year.
Topham and his then fiancé, Cassey Carrington, won £45,160,170.50 in the EuroMillions draw in 2012.
At the time they were seventh in the list of the largest jackpots ever to be won in the UK.
Topham had been working as a painter and decorator in the family business run by his father and was saving for a wedding after getting engaged to Ms Carrington the previous year.
