Man stabbed in "racially aggravated attack"
A 24-year-old man was stabbed in the stomach outside a Liverpool shop in what police are calling a "racially aggravated attack".
It happened last night minutes after another man, a 24-year-old Yemeni, was threatened and racially abused by two men outside Park Road newsagents and general store in Park Road, Toxteth.
The newsagent was closing up for the day at 8.20pm when a number of people from the flat above joined him.
Two hooded white men in their 30s, believed to be the pair who had threatened the newsagent 10 minutes earlier, returned.
It is understood an argument broke out and the man from the flat, who is of Middle East background, suffered a number of injuries including a stab wound to the stomach.
The victim, who moved to the area last December, went by taxi to hospital where his condition was today said to be stable.
Police were today scouring CCTV footage of the scene and carrying out house-to-house inquiries. They also issued an appeal for witnesses.
