Man sentenced to 10 years for paedophile ring abuse
A paedophile was sentenced to 10 years in a young offenders institution today for his part in an abuse ring in a popular tourist resort which police say involved 139 underage victims.
As Jake Ormerod, 20, begins his sentence for admitting offences described as "not far short of rape" against eight girls as young as 13, it can be revealed that Devon and Cornwall Police have interviewed 139 girls as young as 11 who say they were abused by the group in Torquay, Devon.
Some were picked up from the gates of their schools in the area and others were either targeted or groomed, or both, through the social networking site Facebook. The majority were "vulnerable" girls with a propensity to run away from home.
