Man remanded in custody over takeaway shooting
A man appeared in court today charged with the murder of a teenage girl who was shot in the neck at a takeaway restaurant.
Agnes Sina-Inakoju, 16, was shot as she stood with a group of friends inside the fast food outlet in east London last Wednesday evening.
Leon Dunkley, 21, of Kenninghall Road, Hackney, was charged with murder last night and appeared before City of Westminster Magistrates' Court today.
Shaven-headed Dunkley, who stood in the dock wearing blue jeans and a grey hooded top, spoke only to confirm his name, address and date of birth during the brief hearing.
He is charged with murdering Agnes on April 16 at Falkirk Street at the junction with Hoxton Street and one count of possessing a firearm with intent to endanger life on April 14.
Senior district judge Timothy Workman remanded Dunkley in custody and ordered him to appear again at London's Central Criminal Court on April 30 for a preliminary hearing.
Members of Agnes' family were present in court today for the hearing.
Police were called to the Hoxton Chicken and Pizza fast food outlet in Hoxton Street, Hackney, shortly after 7pm on Wednesday.
The victim was taken by ambulance to an east London Hospital but died on Friday morning.
A post-mortem examination carried out at Poplar mortuary gave the cause of death as a gunshot wound.
A 16-year-old boy who was also arrested in connection with the murder was released on bail to return in June.
