Man questioned over double rape
Detectives were continuing to question a 19-year-old man today after a woman was raped by the same person twice in three months, police said.
The victim was attacked first on April 12 as she walked along Stockwell Road in Stockwell, south London, at around midnight, a spokesman for the Metropolitan Police said.
A man followed the woman, 22, along the pavement before stopping her and forcing her into the front of a house where he raped her.
The woman was attacked again at around 1.50am on July 14 after she got off a bus in Stockwell Road.
She noticed a man - who she recognised as the same person who had attacked her three months earlier - and he forced her into a park and raped her, the spokesman said. The victim did not know her attacker.
Officers arrested a 19-year-old man in the street in the Lambeth area on suspicion of rape yesterday afternoon.
He was taken into custody for questioning at a south London police station.
