A man was sentenced today to nine months in prison for handling thousands of pounds of stolen goods during the riots, a court official said.

Unemployed Julian Revere Warner, 25, of Cotton Close, Leytonstone, east London, pleaded guilty to the crime at Wood Green Crown Court, north London.

He had been charged with handling thousands of pounds worth of stolen electrical items, including large screen 3D televisions, Apple Mac computers and laptops, which belonged to Dixons Retail Group.

He has spent 63 days remanded in custody to date and these will count towards his sentence.
