Man jailed for life after 'savage' attack on partner

A man was jailed for life today for killing his partner in a jealous rage.
Nelson Cain, 54, was ordered to serve a minimum of 17 years after being found guilty at the Old Bailey of murdering Marilyn Leslie, 49.
The couple had been together for 10 years but Cain began to suspect the hotel receptionist was having an affair.
In September last year, the poster installer flew into a fury at the couple's home in County Grove, Camberwell, south London.
He chased Miss Leslie into the street with two knives and a barbecue fork before attacking her and stabbing her in the throat in front of her horrified sister.
Michael Worsley QC, prosecuting, said: "He was an angry man who had too much to drink and acted in wild jealousy."
Dafydd Enoch QC, defending, told the court: "He is genuinely heartbroken at what he has done."
Judge Richard Hone told Cain: "Your festering jealousy erupted into an attack of extreme savagery."
The judge said Miss Leslie was a woman of "impeccable character" and despite Cain claiming he loved her, he had gone up to her lifeless body on the ground, slapped her face and called her a liar.
