Man in court over 'night stalker' rapes
A man appeared in court today charged with a series of rapes and indecent assaults on elderly people over the last 17 years.
Delroy Grant, 52, was arrested by detectives hunting a sex attacker known as the "night stalker" who preyed on victims across south and south east London.
Grant, from Brockley, south east London, was charged with five rapes, six indecent assaults and 11 burglaries which took place between 1992 and last year.
No pleas were entered when he appeared at Maidstone Crown Court in Kent via video link from Belmarsh Prison today.
He was remanded in custody to appear at Inner London Crown Court on April 30, when he is expected to enter pleas to the charges.
Wearing a grey pinstripe jacket and white shirt, Grant spoke only to confirm his name during the hearing.
The five rapes are alleged to have taken place in Shirley in October 1992, Surrey in September 1998, Croydon in July 1999, and two offences in Orpington on August 5 1999.
The six indecent assaults are alleged to have taken place in Beckenham in June 1999, Croydon in July 1999, Shirley in August 1999 and October 2002, Surrey in September 1998, and Addiscombe in July 1999.
Grant is also charged with committing burglaries in Bromley, Shirley, Surrey, Addiscombe, Orpington, West Dulwich and Beckenham between October 1992 and May last year.
