A man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a 61-year-old Plymouth man was blasted with a shotgun at his front door.

Car salesman Colin Pester was taken to hospital with a stomach wound.

The shooting happened in Lancaster Gardens, Whitleigh, when the victim was confronted by two men - one with a shotgun - when he answered the door of his converted barn home.

Devon and Cornwall Police went to an address in the Beacon Park Road area of Plymouth and arrested a 42-year-old man in connection with the incident.

Police are trying to confirm whether a silver Renault Clio, discovered ablaze in the city, was used by the attackers to escape from the scene.
