Man held over 1975 Belfast bombing

Thursday 01 March 2012 20:00 EST

Police investigating a republican bomb attack which killed five men in Belfast in 1975 yesterday arrested a man for questioning about the incident.

The 54-year-old was detained following an investigation by the police Historical Enquiries Team, a "cold case" unit which is working its way through troubles killings.

The attack was on the Mountainview Bar in the Shankill Road area of Belfast. The incident was assumed to be an IRA retaliation for a loyalist bomb attack earlier that day on a bar in the nearby Catholic New Lodge area in which two Catholic men were killed.
