A 60-year-old man is in a critical condition in hospital after being injured in a suspected trolley rage incident at a Marks & Spencer store.

The man, who has not been named, was struck by a trolley while in the M&S store at The Glades shopping centre in Bromley.

Local newspaper reports claim the man was hit by a trolley being pushed by a woman, and sustained injuries including a broken hip and wrist.

He was then taken to a Kent hospital for treatment.

Police have since been informed that the man has suffered further health complications and is now critically ill. His condition has been described by the hospital as critical but stable.

The incident happened at around 1pm on the 22nd December during the Christmas rush.

On Boxing Day a 30-year-old woman was arrested by the Metropolitan police on suspicion of GBH.

She has been bailed to return to a London police station on January 29th.

A Scotland Yard spokesman said: “Police were called to a store in The Glades shopping centre in Bromley at 1pm on December 22.

“Officers subsequently arrested a 30-year-old woman on December 26 on suspicion of GBH. She was taken into custody and bailed to return on January 29.”

A spokesman for Marks & Spencer said: “We are assisting police with their investigations and therefore it would not be appropriate for us to comment any further.”
