A man has been charged with raping a woman at a shopping centre in Southampton.

Krystian Kwarta, 20, is alleged to have attacked the 21-year-old victim in Westquay shopping centre on Saturday 15 November.

Officers were called to reports of a rape at 8am and cordoned off an area near to an entrance to the building.

Mr Kwarta has been charged with two counts of rape.

He alaso faces a charge of assault causing actual bodily harm, Hampshire Police said.

Mr Kwarta, of Keyhaven Road, Milton-on Sea, is due to appear at Southampton Magistrates' Court on Wednesday.
