A man suffered serious burns after fireworks were through into his car at traffic lights in Newport.

Police say two men were at a set of traffic lights near a B&Q in the Welsh town on Monday evening when another car pulled up beside it and the occupants threw live fireworks into the car.

Both men were taken to hospital - one with minor injuries but the other suffered serious burns to his hand and chest.

Police say the suspects' car was described as a white BMW Series 1.

Gwent Police are appealing for information about the incident which happened between 7pm and 8pm.
