Man 'attempted to rape' 14 year old girl in Derby park

Police are appealing for witnesses after a man allegedly attempted to rape a 14-year-old girl in a park in Derby.

The young girl was allegedly chatting to a boy in Caxton Park on Monday 29 February at 7pm when the pair were approached by a stranger. The man, who is believed to have been around 19 or 20 years old, allegedly propositioned the girl. When she refused his advances, he allegedly pulled down his trousers and attempted to rape her.

The girl’s friend attempted to help her and the attacker left the scene, riding off on a red and yellow mountain bike.

The attacker is described as being white man around six foot tall and aged 19 or 20 years old. He was wearing a black woolly hat with white writing on the side, a black Nike jacket, black Adidas tracksuit bottoms and blue Adidas trainers.

Police have asked for any witnesses and anyone with any information to contact DC James Robinson on 101 quoting crime number 9365/16 or to call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
