A man wanted over the killing of an off-duty police officer in Liverpool, has been arrested in Germany on suspicion of murder.
Timmy Donovan, 30, from Huyton, Merseyside, was being sought on a European Arrest Warrant over the death of Neil Doyle, who was killed on Friday 19 December last year.
Donovan, also known as Timmy O'Sullivan, was arrested by German police at Dusseldorf Airport trying to a board a plane back to the UK, Mersey Police have said.
PC Doyle, 36, was attacked during a Christmas night out with colleagues in Colquitt Street in Liverpool city centre.
Having married in July, he had planned to go on his honeymoon this month.
Off-duty officers Michael Steventon and Robert Marshall were also attacked and treated in hospital for facial injuries.
Two men have already appeared at court accused of PC Doyle's murder and are due to go on trial at Liverpool Crown Court later this year.
Christopher Spendlove, 30, of Brandearth Hey, Stockbridge Village, and Andrew Taylor, 28, of Cherry Tree Road, Huyton also face charges that they caused grievous bodily harm with intent.
The pair are believed to be close friends who played football together while studying at Oklahoma City University in the United States.
