Man arrested on suspicion of murder after stabbing in Suffolk village garden
Police are investigating the death of a man, reportedly named locally as Brian Knock, in the leafy village of Bildeston
A man has been stabbed to death in the leafy Suffolk village of Bildeston.
Named locally in reports by the Ipswich Star as Brian Knock, the victim was found in the garden of an address at Brooksfield. Police were called in by the ambulance service, and arrived at around 4.15am this morning, but the man was pronounced dead at the scene some 45 minutes later.
At around the same time officers detained a 44-year-old man on suspicion of murder. He has been taken into custody in Bury St Edmunds, and is set to be interviewed by detectives.
Police have closed off the road in Bildeston where the victim was found, and an investigation is underway.
Suffolk police have asked that anyone with information relating to the incident call them on 101.
Bildeston describes itself as a thriving village of just one thousand people, enjoying “unspoilt rural surroundings”.
The stabbing will come as a shock to local residents, as according to the UK’s official crime statistics comparison service there are only around 60 crimes – of any kind – recorded in Bildeston each year.
