A man has been arrested after allegedly walking around London’s Canary Wharf wielding a shotgun.

The Metropolitan Police sent armed officers to West India Quay after being called by alarmed passers-by and the man was detained.

A spokesperson for Scotland Yard said the alarm was raised at 2.15pm by witnesses who said they saw a gun.

“No shots were fired,” he added. “A man was arrested on suspicion of possession of a firearm. Enquiries are ongoing to establish what the weapon was.”
