Man arrested after pensioner is found dead
Detectives were last night questioning a man on suspicion of murder after a pensioner was found dead at her south London home.
The woman, in her seventies, was discovered yesterday afternoon at a house in Forest Hill, Lewisham. The London Ambulance Service was called but the woman was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police said she had suffered multiple injuries, although a full post mortem is likely to be held today. Officers said they believed they knew the woman's identity but were waiting to release further information until her next of kin had been informed.
A man in his forties was arrested by the Met Police's Homicide and Serious Crime Command yesterday and was held in custody overnight at a south London police station.
