Male model arrested in shooting probe
A boy of 17 who claimed to have turned his back on a life of crime to pursue a career as a top fashion model has been arrested following a shooting, it emerged today.
Korrel Kennedy was one of three people held after a 20-year-old woman suffered a small arm injury after being shot with what is thought to be an air rifle, sources said.
Kennedy, a 19-year-old woman and a boy of 16 were arrested on suspicion of burglary and possession of an imitation firearm following the incident at Downs Crematorium in Brighton, East Sussex, on Sunday evening.
All three suspects, from Brighton, have been freed on bail without charge pending further inquiries, a Sussex Police spokesman said today.
Last week it was disclosed that Kennedy had mended his ways after receiving an Asbo in 2007 for violence, vandalism and being drunk.
He later made a public apology through his local newspaper, the Brighton Argus, saying he had been given the "wake-up call" he needed and that he was going to "try my best to be a better person".
He said at the time: "I would like to take this opportunity to apologise to anyone I may have upset through my actions. I believe it's time for a change and I will do my best to right my wrongs."
Kennedy was talent spotted in a tattoo studio in Brighton and signed to Soho-based M and P Models.
The 6ft 1in teenager has since appeared on the international catwalk modelling Jean Paul Gaultier clothes at the Paris fashion show.
A Sussex Police spokesman said today: "Police were called to the Downs Crematorium, Bear Road, Brighton, following reports of a gun shot on July 18.
"A 20-year-old woman had received a small arm injury at around 6.45pm after being shot with what is thought to have been an air rifle.
"Upon searching the area police discovered that doors to the main chapel of the crematorium were insecure."
A spokesman for M and P Models declined to comment about the arrest.
