A young man has been knifed to death while two others have been slashed in a spate of stabbings in London.

Police were called to Battersea, southwest London, after reports that a 19-year-old had been attacked.

Despite efforts from paramedics, the teenager died at the site of the attack in Wolsey Court, Westbridge Road.

Two men, aged 19 and 27, were later arrested on suspicion of murder after “presenting themselves at a central London hospital”, detectives said in a statement on Wednesday morning.

In a separate incident, two teenagers were stabbed in Feltham Park in what were thought to be linked attacks.

The two teenagers were injured on 3 February and police are appealing for witnesses to come forward.

The first, aged in his late teens, was found with knife wounds in Harlington Road East just before 2.30pm and was taken to hospital after being treated by paramedics and an air ambulance team.

Police were then told that a second victim, aged in his mid-teens, had also been slashed with a knife and was taken to hospital for treatment.

Neither of the teenagers’ injuries are life-threatening.

“The investigation is still in its early stages, however, it is believed that the victims may have been attacked in Feltham Park. The incidents are being treated as linked,” a Metropolitan Police statement said.

The stabbing spree followed a bloody start to 2019 in the capital.

Two people were knifed to death in the first six hours of the year and last week 17-year-old Nedim Bilgin became the fifth victim of a fatal attack, when he was stabbed just a few hundred metres from his home.

More than 130 people were murdered in London in 2018, a 10-year high.
