Woman charged with murder after boy found dead in London flat
Woman and child were related, Metropolitan Police have said
A woman has been charged with murder after a 4-year-old boy was found dead in a flat in South East London.
The Metropolitan Police said its officers were called by the London Ambulance Service to a flat in Invermore Place on Sunday.
It is unclear who called emergency services, but when they arrived, they found the boy lifeless.
They tried to resuscitate the child, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Officers arrested a woman in her 30s at the address and took her into police custody.
That same day, she was charged with the child’s murder and appeared at Bromley Magistrate’s Court the following day.
She has been remanded to appear at the Old Bailey on Wednesday.
Police have said the woman and child were related, but they have not revealed what their connection was.
They have also said they will not be releasing the names of either the woman or child at this time.
An investigation is still underway to “establish the full circumstances” of the boy’s death, the Met has said.
A post-mortem examination is expected to take place on Thursday.
