Lithuanian man held over couple's death

A man has appeared at Birmingham magistrates' court charged with the murder of a couple at their home in Birmingham last week.

Rimvydas Liorancas, 37, a Lithuanian national, is charged with murdering Avtar Kolar, 62, and his wife Carole, 58. They were found by their policeman son. West Midlands Police denied the murders were linked to his work.

Mr Liorancas, of Winson Green, Birmingham, was remanded in custody to appear at Birmingham Crown Court on Monday.
