Leveson Inquiry: Photo agent to testify on payments

Friday 13 July 2012 18:39 EDT

The Leveson Inquiry has summoned an ex-police photographer accused of offering thousands of pounds to public officials for information, following a story in The Independent.

Matt Sprake, who runs an agency that supplies pictures to newspapers, is due to appear at the inquiry next week after featuring on the investigative website Exaro.

The inquiry will ask him why his agency, NewsPics, put the offer on its website. He has denied ever paying "anyone in authority" for information.
