Lawrence killer back in prison
The killer of headmaster Philip Lawrence has been recalled to prison after he was arrested on suspicion of robbery.
Learco Chindamo was freed from prison in July, 15 years after stabbing the teacher to death at the gates of St George's Roman Catholic School in Maida Vale, west London.
Now 30, he was arrested in the early hours of yesterday on suspicion of robbing a man on Saturday 13 November in Belmont Street, north London.
Harry Fletcher, assistant general secretary of Napo, the probation trade union, said Chindamo was recalled to custody yesterday for his own and the public's safety: "Before his release, he was turned down for parole at least once on the grounds he hadn't made sufficient progress."
