Killer to have life sentence reviewed
The European Court of Human Rights is to consider a challenge by the multiple killer Jeremy Bamber to his life sentence.
Bamber, who has always insisted he was innocent of the murder of five members of his adoptive family in 1985, has been told he will have to spend his whole life in jail.
He and two other "lifers" argue the lack of any mechanism to review the sentence breaches his human rights.
The Ministry of Justice has been informed by the court it will consider the three prisoners' cases. It is likely to hold hearings in the autumn and to deliver its judgment next year.
