Kilburn attack: Man shot dead in London
Armed police called to scene in Kilburn just before 12.30am Wednesday morning
Police have launched a murder investigation after a man was shot dead near flats in west London.
Armed police and an ambulance crew were called to Hansel Road, Kilburn just before 12.30am on Wednesday morning, but the victim, aged in his 20s, was pronounced dead at the scene.
There have been no arrests and enquiries by homicide detectives from the Met’s Specialist Crime Command are ongoing.
A crime scene remains in place.
Chief superintendent Roy Smith, the Metropolitan Police’s borough commander for the area, said officers will be on patrol in the local area over the coming days.
He added: “Firstly my thoughts are with the victim’s family and loved ones and I know colleagues will be working hard to support them.
“Officers from every part of the Met are out on our streets using every tactic available to stop mindless violence like this.
“I am incredibly proud of and grateful to colleagues from both the Met and London Ambulance Service who rushed towards danger to try to save this young man’s life – as they would do for any one of us.
“We can only combat violence like this by working together and we really do need your help and support.”
This latest murder investigation follows another launched by the Met’s homicide command on Saturday after a teenager was stabbed to death in the West End in an unrelated incident.
Jeremy Chalarca-Meneses, 17, died in a London hospital after being attacked near Oxford Street.
Three males were later arrested on suspicion of murder – all three have since been bailed to return pending further enquiries.
