A jury has begun deliberations in the trial of a trainee teacher accused of having sex with one of her pupils.

Hannah McIntyre, 25, a classics teacher at £8,000-a-year Merchant Taylors' Boys' school in Crosby, Merseyside, denies one count of sexual activity with a child by a person in a position of trust at Liverpool Crown Court.

The four day trial has heard claims that McIntyre, of Winstanley Road, Waterloo, Merseyside, seduced the 16-year-old boy after plying him with cider.

But she says he made the story up to deflect attention from his poor behaviour at school.
