John Leslie quizzed over rape allegation
Former Blue Peter presenter John Leslie has been arrested on suspicion of rape, it was reported today.
Scotland Yard confirmed a man in his 40s was questioned by detectives over an allegation of rape and sexual assault in November 1995.
Last night a spokesman for the Metropolitan Police said: "Officers are investigating an allegation of rape and indecent assault on a woman dating from November 1995.
"At approximately 7pm this evening a man aged in his 40s attended a London police station by appointment and was arrested in connection with the inquiry.
"He was interviewed and bailed pending further inquiries to a date in late August."
Leslie, the former This Morning daytime TV host, was previously acquitted of two counts of indecent assault on a 23-year-old actress.
He had faced charges of attacking the same woman twice between 25 and 28 May 1997.
She came forward to police in 2002 after Leslie was sacked from This Morning following allegations arising from TV presenter Ulrika Jonsson's autobiography - although she herself had not named him.
The Sun reports today that the latest allegations against Leslie are claimed to have taken place at a party at his London home in 1995.
It is reported his accuser was in her early 20s when she claims she was attacked at his home in Sheen, West London.
