Police arrest 19-year-old man suspected of abducting Jade Lynch, 14
The schoolgirl was described by police as 'extremely vulnerable'
A 19-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of abducting 14-year-old Jade Lynch.
The St Helens schoolgirl was found safe and well after she had been missing for 11 days.
Detectives were questioning a 19-year-old they suspect abducted the Warrington-born teenager, whom police described as an "extremely vulnerable" person.
On 26 March, Jade told her brother she was "meeting someone", and left home. She was then missing for 11 days, with police saying they believed she did not have access to cash or a mobile phone.
But following an emotional appeal from her 22-year-old sister Stephanie, Jade was found in the Wigan area at 9.30pm on Wednesday.
“The investigation into the circumstances surrounding Jade’s disappearance is currently ongoing," a spokesperson for Cheshire Police said. "A 19-year-old man is helping officers with their enquiries.”
Police also praised the public for their help in returning Jade to her family.
Detective Superintendent Jon Betts said: “Information from the public is vital, and throughout this investigation the support that we have received from the public has been outstanding.
“Print, broadcast and social media have proved instrumental in getting the information out to the public which has resulted in the support we have had.
“Now that Jade has been located I would ask that the privacy of Jade and her family is respected. We are currently working closely with our partners to support Jade at this difficult time.”
He added that "inappropriate and upsetting comments" on social media did not help the "vulnerable teenager" or her family.
