Jade Goody widower Jack Tweed to face rape charge

Tuesday 22 December 2009 07:41 EST

The widower of reality TV star Jade Goody is expected to deny raping a teenager.

Jack Tweed allegedly met the 19-year-old at a West End nightclub before taking her to his home in Brandesbury Square, Repton Park, Woodford Green, east London, and attacking her.

Tweed, 22, will not be present at the hearing at London's Snaresbrook Crown Court but will enter a plea to the rape charge via a videolink to Pentonville Prison, where he is on remand.

The charge will claim the club promoter attacked his alleged victim - who cannot be named for legal reasons - on September 4 this year.

Co-defendant Anthony Davis, a 25-year-old estate agent, of Stradbroke Drive, Chigwell, Essex, who is on bail, is also due to be arraigned. He is also expected to enter a not guilty plea to the rape accusation.

At a previous hearing Judge David Radford provisionally fixed their two-week trial for April 12.

It is alleged Tweed met the woman at the Embassy club in Mayfair before inviting her back to his townhouse and attacking her.

Tweed, who married Big Brother star Goody, 27, shortly before she lost her battle against cervical cancer in March, was arrested later that day.
